About Our Class
The Cal Poly Pomona Communication Department Event Planning Class works hard to create meaningful events. The purpose of Event Planning (COM 4446) is to introduce students to the meetings, events and conventions industry and to provide them with the tools necessary to succeed as an event planner.
BEHIND THE SCENES
The Event Planning Class from the Communication Department at Cal Poly Pomona hopes to not only create remarkable events but also to leave legacies for future students.
Behind each event, there are 24 students who are split up into five committees with chairs and two event coordinators. With help from our professor, we work collaboratively and diligently to create purpose-driven, successful events.
Students learn about the logistics of special events planning through both academic instruction and a “learn-by-doing” education in the planning, production and execution of a major event.
MEET THE TEAM
Co-Coordinators
Meet our Event Co-Coordinators! Martha Palafox and Katelyn La oversee all five of the committees, manage deadlines and ensure all tasks are completed well and in a timely manner to keep us on track for a successful event.
Speakers & Programs
Meet our Speakers and Programs Team! In this committee, we have Brendan Hidalgo, Miguel Cardenas, Kjelsea Royce, Lexi Diniz and Breanna Murillo. They book all of our speakers and create our event program and determine our schedule for the day of the event.
Hospitality
Meet our Hospitality Team! In this committee, we have Jocelyn Vazquez, Aleena Llamas, Anaiya Mcknight-Gonzalez and Sarai Martinez. They organize all of our event decorations, food, and gifts to make sure our event looks beautiful!
Operations & Technology
Meet our Operations and Technology Team! In this committee, we have Jose Zamudio-Valdez, Roderick Chu, Danielle Procaccia, Raul Ortiz and Jacob Lopez. They ensure that our event is organized and runs as smoothly as possible.
Publicity & Website
Meet our Publicity and Website Team! In this committee, we have Emily Perez, Kristine Pascual, Mariana Zavala, Daisette Verdin and Lizzeth Hernandez. They manage the website and social sites, create content, and design our logo to advertise our event.
Budget & Fundraising
Meet our ($) Budget and Fundraising Team! In this committee, we have Min Ju Kim, Zulema Garcia-Ortiz, Gage Lampman, and Andre Davancens. They monitor committee budgets, funds and provide fundraising opportunities to raise money for our event.
